MTV has greenlit “Rob & Big Black,” a buddy comedy revolving around real-life pro street skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his bodyguard, Christopher “Big Black” Boykin.
Music net has ordered eight episodes for a fall premiere.
Jeff Tremaine, an exec producer on MTV hits “Jackass” and “WildBoyz,” created the show with Ruben Fleisher, Dyrdek and Boykin. He will exec produce.
Show will follow the pals, who met when Dyrdek hired Boykin as his personal bodyguard, in their daily lives as best friends and roommates sharing the skateboarder’s Hollywood Hills home.
“Rob is wired in to the MTV audience, and this new show will provide a window for fans into his daily life,” network exec VP Lois Curren said. “Skateboarding is huge with our core demo, and we’re excited to bring a different side of this unique culture to our viewers.”
