De Havilland honored by org

HOLLYWOOD — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ longest-serving active member was lauded Thursday when Olivia de Havilland was honored with a career recap at the Goldwyn Theater.

Two weeks shy of her 90th birthday, De Havilland gives new meaning to the word “spry.” She enters a room with a bouncy step; answers questions cleverly (regarding her best and worst directors, she said: “Hard to say and not wise to say”); and calls her half-century of living in Paris (where a favored routine includes dinner in bed and a crossword puzzle) “very agreeable.”

De Havilland returns infrequently to Los Angeles and said she’s surprised to see “all these great buildings in, of all places, Westwood Village.”
