Sony Pictures Television Intl. will bow its Animax animation channel in South Korea on Friday in partnership with satcaster SkyLife, which will be its exclusive carrier.
Animax is aimed at teens and young adults, and SPTI says it expects the channel to differentiate itself from other toon nets in Korea, which skew younger.
Exclusive firstrun programming includes sci-fi, comedies, action, dramas and thrillers, with series including “Monkey Typhoon” and “Galaxy Angels.” Local content skedded includes “Yorang-Ah” and “Black Rubber Shoes.”
SPTI has Animax channels in Japan, South and South East Asia and previously launched the AXN web on SkyLife.
