Kiddie supergroup turns Page
SYDNEY — Kiddie supergroup the Wiggles may be set to wave goodbye to Yellow Wiggle Greg Page due to an unidentified illness afflicting the 34-year-old entertainer.
The Wiggles have called a press conference for Thursday to make a “major announcement relating to members of the group.” Page has been unwell for months and was replaced in the Wiggles recent Stateside tour by an understudy.
Group was named Australian Exporter of the Year in 2006 and is Oz’s most profitable entertainer, with takings of A$35.2 million ($27.6 million) a year, ahead of Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. Group also won the 2006 Aria award for children’s release “Live Hot Potatoes.”
Page is a founding member of the Wiggles, which formed in 1991, and has been instrumental in the band’s success, which has seen the band franchise in Asia and South America.
