Looking to enhance the relationship between Warner Music Group artists and their fans, Warner has hired Dan Pelson as senior vice president, global consumer marketing.
Pelson, a founder of the Internet sites uPlayMe and Bolt, will also serve as the chief architect and executor of WMG’s strategic consumer initiatives, including market research, development of direct-to-consumer technologies and consumer databases, and expansion of WMG’s advertising sales functions.
He reports to Alex Zubillaga, executive VP, digital strategy and business development for WMG, and will be based in New York.
Previously, Pelson was chairman and CEO of Concrete Media, an Internet services business that was responsible for creating large commerce sites, including BOL.com.
He co-founded uPlayMe, a business that focuses on the intersection of social networking and digital entertainment. He also founded and was the CEO of Bolt, recognized as the first social network focused on teens.
