MTV reality series for ‘Pimp’ rappers

Skein will follow Three 6 Mafia from Memphis to L.A.

MTV is hooking up with Academy Award-winning rap group Three 6 Mafia for new comedic reality series “Adventures in Hollyhood.” Music network has greenlit eight half-hours that will follow the group behind the hit song “It’s Hard Out There for a Pimp,” as they endeavor to become Hollywood players, moving from their Memphis hometown to Los Angeles in the process.

Rod Aissa, Kevin Lee and Melanie Graham will executive produce with Katalyst Films’ Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg and Karey Burke (“Punk’d”). Aaron Rosenberg and Three 6 Mafia are co-executive producers. 

MTV exec VP of series development and programming Lois Curren said the cabler is having tremendous success with the comedy reality genre. Between ” ‘Wild N Out,’ ‘Run’s House,’ ‘The Newlyweds’ and ‘The Osbournes’ — we’re consistently changing and experimenting with our programming lineup,” she said.

“Adventures” is slated to bow first quarter next year.
