Eye drums up music veep

Osler new liaison for CBS skeins, music industry

Columbia Records exec Amy Osler has been tapped to fill a newly created post overseeing the integration of music into CBS and CBS Paramount Network Television skeins.

As veepee of music for CBS and its sister studio, Osler will work as a liaison between the producers and music supervisors on CBS/CBS Par skeins and the music industry. She’ll be responsible for what the Eye calls “creative placement” of music — and musicians — on programs.

While the post is new at CBS, several other nets have added similar positions in recent years as more and more broadcast skeins have started licensing music on a regular basis.

Osler will report to both CBS exec veep of specials, music and live events Jack Sussman and CBS Par Network TV prexy David Stapf.

Before joining the Eye, Osler spent 11 years at Sony Music/Columbia Records, including the past two as VP of television marketing for Columbia. She helped book John Mayer’s recent two-song performance on the season premiere of “CSI” and landed songs by Anna Nalick and the Dixie Chicks in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Medium,” respectively.

Osler’s music career began in 1991 at MCA Concerts.
