Blaze TV, the company behind live music program “CD USA,” is building a high-def concert venue within the Austin Convention Center to film 30-35 acts at next year’s SXSW music festival for the DirecTV-carried program.
Plan is to shoot about 25 hours of footage at the fest. While most SXSW showcases are open only to conference attendees, current plan is to open the doors to the general public for the shows being shot under the banner of SXTV. Studio will be equipped to shoot in HD and record in 5.1.
International sales of SXTV content are being handled by Zeal TV. Company is working on pre-sales at Mipcom; negotiations have begun with outlets in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and China.
SXTV content will also be distributed via the Internet, mobile phone and digital cinema. A “Best of SXSW 2007” DVD is also planned through Blaze TV’s parent company Shout! Factory. Shout! Factory purchased Blaze TV less than two months ago (Daily Variety, Aug. 25).
