Boonshaft sings praises of new communications post
Sony Pictures Entertainment exec Hope Boonshaft has joined the Los Angeles Opera as chief marketing and communications officer, a newly created position.
Boonshaft, who had been Sony’s exec VP of global public policy since 1995, will oversee the L.A. Opera’s new marketing, public relations and community outreach strategies.
At SPE, Boonshaft oversaw the company’s worldwide government relations, public policy activities, community affairs and corporate philanthropy. She helped develop a community outreach and government affairs program that supported the business strategies of SPE’s film, TV, homevid and digital studio divisions. She also worked closely with corporate communications and the motion picture marketing department on various issue-oriented pics that required special strategic plans.
Before joining SPE, she was senior VP-acting general manager of Edelman Public Relations in Los Angeles.
