Classical luncheon will toast the Kronos Quartet

The Recording Academy has selected the honorees for its annual salutes to classical music, jazz and gospel.

The classical luncheon will toast the Kronos Quartet; an evening of jazz will pay tribute to Barry Harris, Hank Jones and Oscar Peterson; and the morning gospel ceremony will pay kudos to Shirley Caesar, Billy Ray Hearn, Bill Hearn and Robert Smallwood.

The 10th Grammy Salute to Classical Music will be held at noon Feb. 3 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Salute to Jazz, which will feature live performances and appearances by the honorees and the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensembles, will will also take place Feb. 3, starting at 7 p.m. at the Music Box @ Fonda Theater.

Salute to Gospel Music will be held at the Biltmore Hotel at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4. In addition to the President’s Merit Award presentation, the event will feature performances by top gospel artists.
