Music docu director pacts with FME for TV
LONDON — Fremantle Media Enterprises has signed an exclusive first-look deal with cult U.K. music docu helmer Don Letts.
Pact gives FME rights to develop and exploit program ideas created by Letts across TV, homevid and ancillary rights.
Letts won a Grammy for “Westway to the World,” featuring U.K. punk rockers the Clash. His other documentaries include “Tales of Dr. Funkenstein,” a portrait of funk star George Clinton; “Punk: Attitude”; and “Rock It to Rio.”
“Opportunities to collaborate with such an acclaimed producer and director — a veritable doyen of the music industry — don’t come around too often, so we’re happy to have cemented such a great working relationship,” said Peter Kalhan, FME senior veep of home entertainment and archive sales.
