Current TV, EMI harmonize on pact

Gore scores music conglom's catalog

Al Gore’s Current TV and EMI are getting hitched.

The cable and satellite network co-founded by Gore and Joel Hyatt will gain access to the music conglom’s catalogs and will focus on integrating its artists into Current programming.

Current already has a deal with APM Music, a joint venture between BMG and EMI, which will give viewers access to APM music to score their own video footage.

“By using our programming to break out new and established artists, we want to further connect with viewers by becoming a resource that introduces them to new music while also enjoying access to classics,” said Current TV programming prexy David Newman.

One-third of Current’s programming is supplied by its audience.
