Yates named as COO, Roth tapped for veep position
RDF USA, the reality shop behind ABC hit “Wife Swap,” has named Tony Yates chief operating officer and upped Wendy Roth to exec VP on the East Coast.
RDF Media has been looking to bolster its U.S. operations, earlier this year hiring tenpercenter Chris Coelen to serve as CEO (Daily Variety, Feb. 21) and former ABC exec Greg Goldman to serve as exec VP of current and development (Daily Variety, April 18).
Most recently a co-exec producer on “Supernanny,” Yates will oversee the operation and production management of the company’s assets. RDF’s recent productions include the WB’s “Survival of the Richest,” VH1’s “Gene Simmons’ Rock School” and the TLC skeins “Junkyard Wars” and “Faking It.”
Roth, who exec produces “Wife Swap,” will now run the shingle’s New York office, which is currently in production on the upcoming VH1 skein “Ice T’s Rap School.”
“Tony has the relationships to ensure that RDF will work with the best production talent in the business, and Wendy has done a brilliant job establishing ‘Wife Swap’ as a regular fixture in the ABC schedule as well as establishing our New York base,” Coelen said.
Yates previously held senior positions at Miramax TV and LMNO Prods. Recent credits include “The Bachelor,” “Project Greenlight” and “Beauty and the Geek.”
Before RDF, Roth produced news and specials for “Good Morning America,” “Turning Point” and “The Barbara Walters Specials.” She also developed “The Runner” and R.J. Cutler series “American Candidate” and consulted on ESPN’s “Dream Job.” Before that, she was veep of Michael Davies’ Diplomatic Prods.
