Pact covers about 60 freelance broadcast technicians
The Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has reached a deal with Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic covering about 60 freelance broadcast technicians in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
The techs help produce Washington Wizards and Capitals and regional college sports games, both home and away. The pact was reached after 40 technicians staged a one-day strike on Dec. 19, leaving managers without staffing for the Capitals’ hockey game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
IATSE said the contract came after 15 months of negotiations. The freelancers voted last fall to join IATSE, following an election supervised by the Natl. Labor Relations Board.
IATSE said it expects the agreement to be ratified before mid-January.
