‘Beasts’ find writer

Walden Media has tapped David Rothenberg (“Modoc”) to adapt Isabel Allende’s “City of the Beasts,” a tale of kidnapping in the Amazon rainforests. “City of the Beasts,” the first book of Allende’s trilogy, centers on a 15-year-old adventurer and his 12-year-old sister who discover “People of the Mist” and the mythical city of El Dorado. It was published in 2002 by HarperCollins, followed by “Kingdom of the Golden Dragon” and “Forest of the Pygmies.”
