Yale picks topper

Martenson assumes the post July 1

Yale School of Drama has appointed Edward A. Martenson chair of its department of theater management. He assumes the post July 1.

Martenson takes the place of long-time August Wilson producer Benja-min Mordecai, who died in 2005. (The school of drama’s deputy dean, Victoria Nolan, has served as interim chair since then.)

Martenson has been managing di-rector at Yale Rep and the McCarter and was exec director of the Guthrie for a decade. Since 1996, he has been program director and VP of education at National Arts Strategies as well as a freelance consultant.
