Wesler heads up Conn. Theater

Center recieves new exec director

After a season where the president of the board oversaw operations, Stamford (Conn.) Center for the Arts has a new executive director.

Kenneth A. Wesler, exec director for the past 11 years of the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del., takes the reins in Connecticut, starting his three-year contract July 17.

The center, which includes the 1,500-seat Palace Theater and the 750-seat Rich Forum, was previously under the joint leadership of George E. Moredock III as artistic director and Douglas C. Evans as exec director. Both men resigned last year and board president Michael Cacace took over exec duties in the interim.

Wesler was managing director of Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theater from 1989-95 and was a production stage manager with Philadelphia’s Wilma Theater.
