Venue invites ‘Company’

Doyle to helm Sondheim tuner on B'way

Looks like “Company” has found a home: The Broadway-bound revival of the Stephen Sondheim tuner will go into the Barrymore Theater, according to producer Richard Frankel. Rialto venue has been vacant since the Johnny Cash tuner “Ring of Fire” shuttered in April.

“Company” will be the second Sondheim musical on Broadway directed by John Doyle, the Brit who just picked up a Tony for his pared-down revival of “Sweeney Todd.”

“Company” bowed in the spring in Cincy. Both it and “Sweeney” feature an ensemble of actors who also double as orchestra.

With a cast of 14, “Company” is capitalized at around $4 million, a bit more than the $3.5 million pricetag for “Sweeney.”
