Fest to run July 5 - 30 at Theater Row

The third annual Summer Play Festival, producer Arielle Tepper’s showcase for new work, has picked the slate of 15 plays that will run July 5-30 Off Broadway at Theater Row.

Offerings, all by largely unknown writers, include Rob Handel’s “Millicent Scowlworthy,” following teens reenacting a local murder; Melinda Lopez’s “Sonia Flew,” centering on a Cuban exile’s reaction to her son’s desire to join the Marines; and Peter Morris’ “Marge,” about a man who hires a call girl to help kill his wife.

SPF received some 1,000 scripts for consideration. The lineup was selected with the help of a group of industry pros including producer David Binder, helmer Jo Bonney, New Dramatists a.d. Todd London and scribe Richard Nelson.
