‘Spring’ winging to O’Neill

Show begins perfs on Nov. 17

The producers of “Spring Awakening” have finally confirmed when and where it’ll wake up again: The Broadway transfer of the Atlantic Theater Company’s hit tuner begins perfs Nov. 17 at the Eugene O’Neill Theater.

No opening date or casting has yet been announced, although it looks likely that the show’s original ensemble — including newcomers Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele, both of whom have dropped out of other projects to appear in the transfer — will reprise their roles.

Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel, producers of the upcoming staging of “Talk Radio,” starring Liev Schreiber, have joined the “Awakening” producing team led by Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman.

With music by pop singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, “Awakening” is an adaptation of the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind about teens confronting the twin shadows of sex and death. Michael Mayer directs.
