Plummer revisits ‘Summer’ role

Thesp returns to Williams' drama

Amanda Plummer will repeat her role as Alma Winemiller in Tennessee Williams’ “Summer and Smoke” for New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse.

Plummer, who received positive notices in the Hartford Stage production this fall, was not expected to star once the co-production transferred to the Garden State in January because of a prior acting gig in Montreal. That job has now been postponed.

Kevin Anderson (Broadway’s “Sunset Boulevard,” “Orpheus Descending”) will succeed Marc Kudisch in the role of Dr. John Buchanan. Kudisch instead will be in Broadway’s “The Apple Tree.” Hartford Stage a.d. Michael Wilsonwill again direct.
