Pace set for Arts program

Actors Studio, university pact to create MFA program

The Actors Studio’s co-prexies Ellen Burstyn and Harvey Keitel, “Inside the Actors Studio’s” James Lipton and Pace U. prexy David Caputo announced a 10-year agreement Monday between the Actors Studio and Pace U. to establish a three-year Master of Fine Arts program in acting, playwriting and directing.

Agreement builds on the Actors Studio’s existing relationship with Pace, whose Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts is home to the Lipton-hosted Bravo show.

The program, which will be known as the Actors Studio MFA Program at Pace University, is still subject to approval from the New York State Dept. of Education. If approved, the Program is expected to begin this fall with 60 students at Pace’s downtown Gotham campus.

Al Pacino, also an Actors Studio co-prexy, Don Cheadle, Tim Allen, Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman and Tom Hanks are all scheduled to appear on the 12th season of “Inside the Actors Studio,” airing this spring on Bravo.
