Legit critic has been with New York Times since 2004

New York Times legit critic Charles Isherwood has scored the Nathan Award, a criticism laurel administered by Cornell U. and endowed by the late critic George Jean Nathan.

Trophy, given for Isherwood’s body of reviews written over the 2005-06 season, comes with a $10,000 cash prize.

Scribe has been a legit critic at the Times since 2004 and before that served as chief theater critic for Variety.

Award is chosen by a majority vote of the heads of the English departments at Cornell, Princeton and Yale. Isherwood receives the prize in February.
