Opera company sings new tune with MacLeod

Glimmerglass Opera, the upstate opera company, has tapped general director Michael MacLeod to take on the dual role of general and artistic director beginning at the conclusion of the 2006 season. Paul Kellogg, the current artistic director, has announced his retirement.

Before joining Glimmerglass in 2005, MacLeod was exec director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra as well as exec and artistic director of the City of London Festival.

MacLeod has already unveiled his first program, for the 2007 season, which will feature four operas based around the Greek myth of Orpheus.
