Gennaro leaves Paper Mill for Trinity Rep

New exec director replaces Dobie

Michael Gennaro, prexy and chief exec of Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, N.J., is ankling his post to become exec director of Trinity Rep in Providence, R.I.

Gennaro replaces Edgar Dobie, who resigned to become executive producersof “The Pirate Queen,” the Broadway-bound new tuner from the creative team of “Les Miserables.”

Gennaro had topped Paper Mill — a regional that sees a lot of Rialto talent on its stage, given its proximity to Gotham — since 2003. Before that he was managing director of the Steppenwolf in Chicago, where he worked with Curt Columbus, who is now a.d. at Trinity Rep.

Leadership of Paper Mill will transfer to Mark S. Hoebee, currently associate a.d. at the theater, and Diane Claussen, currently managing director. Gennaro starts at Trinity Rep in February.
