“Eurydice,” the latest play by Sarah Ruhl (“The Clean House”), will fill the final slot of the season at Off Broadway’s Second Stage.
It’ll be the second major Gotham outing this season for Ruhl, a recent recipient of a MacArthur Foundation genius grant. Her “Clean House” bowed at Lincoln Center Theater this fall.
The MacArthur Award no doubt helped grease the wheels for a Gotham production of “Eurydice.” “Clean House” preemed at Yale Rep in 2004, and took two years to make it to New York, whereas “Eurydice” had a well-received production at Yale Rep earlier this fall.
Les Waters, who helmed the Yale Rep incarnation, directs the show at Second Stage.
A surreal modern-day take on the myth of Orpheus, “Eurydice” starts previews May 29 for a June 12 opening.
