Chekov play adds Ejiofor

Thesp joins Thomas in 'Seagull'

Chiwetel Ejiofor will star opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in “The Seagull” at the Royal Court in London.

Ejiofor, whose film credits include “Dirty Pretty Things” and the upcoming “Children of Men,” will play writer Trigorin in the new adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s play by Christopher Hampton (“Les Liaisons Dangereuses”).

Besides Thomas (“The English Patient”), who will play actress Arkadina, the cast includes Mackenzie Crook and Katherine Parkinson. Production, helmed by Court a.d. Ian Rickson, runs Jan. 18-March 17.
