Langella tackles ‘Nixon’

Thesp returns to London to take on role of ex-prez

LONDON — Frank Langella will return to London legit to play Richard Nixon, opposite Michael Sheen as Brit broadcaster David Frost, in “Frost/Nixon,” running Aug. 10-Oct. 7 at the Donmar Warehouse.

Donmar a.d. Michael Grandage will direct Peter Morgan’s play, a re-creation of the background to the legendary 1977 interviews between the disgraced ex-president and the celebrity interviewer.

“Frost/Nixon” is the first play by screenwriter Morgan, who hit U.K. headlines with well-received TV drama “The Deal,” about Tony Blair and friend and rival Gordon Brown, the chancellor of the exchequer. Morgan’s movie “The Queen,” directed by Stephen Frears and starring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, is scheduled for a limited U.S. release in October.
