Gersh goes more legit

Agency acquires Ketay, builds up its theater biz

NEW YORK — The Gersh Agency beefed up its theatrical roster with the acquisition of the Joyce Ketay Agency over the weekend.

JKA head Joyce Ketay and partner Carl Mulert will move into Gersh’s Gotham offices, bringing with them a client list that includes writer-director Neil LaBute, scribes Tony Kushner and David Rabe and helmers Moises Kaufman and Jo Bonney.

Ketay and Mulert will work alongside Gersh theater agents Peter Hagan and John Buzzetti, who have David Lindsay-Abaire, Lynn Nottage, Adam Rapp, Walter Bobbie and writing partners Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez on their roster.

“We were looking to build on our theater business, and Joyce Ketay was an ideal first choice to do that,” said Gersh co-prexy Bob Gersh.

Ketay said she anticipated that Gersh’s larger scope, including its West Coast office, would bring her clients a broader range of opportunities.
