‘Coast’ rounds up its cast

Plimpton, Easton, Crudup among play's additions

NEW YORK — Billy Crudup, Richard Easton, Martha Plimpton, Jennifer Ehle, Josh Hamilton and David Harbour will join Ethan Hawke and Brian F. O’Byrne in the large ensemble of Lincoln Center Theater’s production of “The Coast of Utopia” by Tom Stoppard.

Three-play, nine-hour epic, helmed by Jack O’Brien and presented over six months starting in October, follows real-life Russian intellectuals in the 19th century.

Hawke portrays anarchist Michael Bakunin, O’Byrne plays theorist Alexander Herzen, Crudup is critic Vissarion Belinsky and Hamilton (“Hurlyburly”) is poet Nicholas Ogarev.

Easton, Ehle (now in the Public Theater’s “Macbeth” in Central Park) and Harbour (“Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”) will play multiple roles. So will Plimpton, currently appearing opposite O’Byrne in Manhattan Theater Club’s production of “Shining City.”

“Utopia” kicks off with the bow of the first play, “Voyage,” on Oct. 17 at the Vivian Beaumont, LCT’s Broadway stage.
