John Buzzetti has become a partner at Gersh.
The theatrical lit agent has become known for his roster of rising young clients since he joined the agency in 1998. List includes 2006 Tony nominees David Lindsay-Abaire and Marsha Norman, along with Adam Rapp, Stephen Adly Guirgis and the creative team of “Avenue Q.”
Buzzetti joins Bill Butler, Stephen Hirsh and Rhonda Price as Gotham partners of the bicoastal agency.
“What’s exciting to me is to be a part of the group that’s taking the lead in the direction the agency is going,” Buzzetti said. The new path includes an expansion of the theater department, which annexed the Joyce Ketay Agency earlier this year.
Promotion “definitely sends a signal to New York about how important we think the theater world is,” said agency co-prexy Bob Gersh.
Upcoming projects from Buzzetti’s talent include “School of the Americas,” the latest from Jose Rivera that will preem in July at the Public; “High Fidelity,” the tuner adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel by Tom Kitt, Amanda Green and Lindsay-Abaire, set for the fall; and a new Washington Heights-set musical, “In the Heights,” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes.
