Ramin adapting Just tome for Uni

Universal Pictures has tapped Mennan Yapo to helm “The Ambassador,” an adaptation of Ward S. Just’s political thriller novel “The American Ambassador.”

Tome centers on a U.S. diplomat whose career is threatened when his son gets involved in a German terrorist organization.

Pic is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman. Script is being penned by Larry Ramin.

Yapo is in post on supernatural thriller “Premonition,” starring Sandra Bullock, which MGM has skedded for release in March. His first outing as a feature director was on the 2003 indie “Soundless.”

Strike’s recent credits include “Children of Men” and “Let’s Go to Prison,” both of which are being distribbed by U.
