TWC signs deal with Berlin-based producer-distributor
BERLIN — The Weinstein Co. has inked a distribution deal with Berlin-based producer-distrib Senator Entertainment.Agreement, announced Tuesday, includes theatrical and DVD distribution rights to Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s “Grindhouse” double-feature project, which Senator’s Marco Weber described as the highlight of the company’s 2007 slate. Senator also picked up Frank Darabont and Mikael Hafstrom’s upcoming Stephen King adaptations, “The Mist” and “1408,” as well as Rob Bindler’s “Surfer Dude,” starring Matthew McConaughey, and Jonathan Levine’s horror pic “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.” Distribution division Senator Film will release the films next year, beginning with “Grindhouse” in April. Company predicts the acquisitions will boost Senator’s 2007 revenues by $26 million.
