U.S. students to hear Gallic helmers

Program runs in 10 Stateside universities

PARIS — Seven top French directors will be sharing their wisdom with U.S. university students in a fourth session of the Unifrance-organized “On Set With French Cinema,” starting Oct. 10.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Costa-Gavras, Jacques Audiard, Jean Francois Richet, Anne Fontaine, Gaspar Noe and Nicolas Philibert have signed up for the program, which runs through the beginning of January in 10 Stateside universities.

Series kicks off with Noe, who will be presenting his films and talking to students at Columbia, the School of Visual Arts and New York University Oct. 10-13. Fontaine and Audiard will visit the same schools in November, with Audiard also talking to students at Yale.

Philibert will be at Harvard Nov. 26-29.

Richet and Jeunet will be on the West Coast Oct. 24-27 and Oct. 30-Nov. 22, respectively, followed by Costa-Gavras in January.

Schools on their itinerary include the American Film Insititute, UCLA, USC, San Francisco State University and Stanford.

“On Set With French Cinema” is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
