Children's Film Collection to be used for programming, events

The Toronto Film Festival Group is setting up a collection of children’s and family films from around the world thanks to a C$500,000 ($433,300) donation from the Harbinger Foundation of Toronto.

The family foundation was set up in 1995 to support partnerships with creative and innovative not-for-profit organizations in memory of Harbinger president Joan VanDuzer’s late husband John.

The John VanDuzer Children’s Film Collection will be used for Festival Center programming and events and be made available to outside institutions.

“The collection will open the minds and hearts of young people in their quest to better understand themselves and the world around them,” said fest group director of youth education and Sprockets children’s film festival Jane Schoettle.
