'Strange Culture,' 'Flying' will be shown at festival
The Sundance Film Festival has added a pair of out-of-competition pics, bringing the total number of feature films in the fest to 125.The world preem of “Strange Culture” has been added to the New Frontier section, while the North American premiere of “Flying — Confessions of a Free Woman” will unspool as a special screening. “Strange Culture,” directed by Lynn Hershman Leeson, centers on an artist and college professor who awakes to realize that his wife of 27 years has died in her sleep, followed by a surreal sequence of events that lead to his being held as a suspected terrorist. “Flying” is a Danish-American production directed by Jennifer Fox. Six-hour film focuses on one woman’s four-year investigation of her own life and the lives of other women around the globe to discover what it means to be a woman today.
