Oliver Stone will helm a five-minute promo about the joys and delights of the Chinese capital ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, organizers say.
The five-minute film to promote “cultural exchange between Beijing and the world” will screen on TV, in cinemas and on aircraft.
Stone’s short is part of a program called Vision Beijing, in which five helmers from around the world will be asked to shoot films to publicize Beijing. Italian helmer Giuseppe Tornatore and Iranian director Majid Majidi have been asked to take part in the project.
“China and the United States are two big countries that should have more interaction,” Stone told local media on Thursday.
The helmer was in Beijing to promote “World Trade Center.” Pic’s launch was delayed last month after the culture ministry postponed foreign movies for a season of propaganda pics.
