SquareOne takes over ‘Captivity’

Outfit also acquires German rights to three horror pics

MUNICH — Munich-based distrib SquareOne has picked up Teutonic rights to helmer Roland Joffe’s thriller “Captivity,” about a couple abducted and held in a cellar.

The outfit, set up in 2002 by Al Muntaenu, also acquired German rights to three horror pics: “Solstice” by “The Blair Witch Project” co-helmer Daniel Myrick; “Pry,” helmed by John Stockwell (“Blue Crush”); and “Nine Miles Down,” helmed by Anthony Waller, which is in production in Namibia.

SquareOne’s shopping spree follows the successful German release of “White Noise” and “The Descent.”
