Skillset taps Marmot

'Benjamenta' producer to be org's director of film

LONDON — U.K. training body Skillset has appointed producer Janine Marmot as its director of film.

She replaces Judy Counihan, who quit Skillset in October to run to production with IWC Media.

Marmot, whose producing credits include “Institute Benjamenta” by the Quay brothers, will oversee the continued implementation of the org’s “Bigger Future” strategy, a five-year program to develop film skills that’s currently in its third year.

This joint initiative between Skillset and the U.K. Film Council has already launched a national network of screen academies, and set up the mentoring scheme Guiding Lights.
