Revival of the week

News Brief

You can’t keep a good vampire tale down.

After years of slumber, Richard Matheson‘s “I Am Legend” is sharpening its fangs again. Will Smith has a pay-or-play deal to star in the apocalyptic tale for Warner Bros.

It’s Smith’s second go at the project: He was attached to an aborted version with director Michael Bay in 2002.

Ridley Scott and Arnold Schwarzenegger teamed on a 1997 incarnation. But Warners drove a stake through it when the budget hit $108 million.
