PARIS — Young French thesps Jeremie Renier and Melanie Laurent have won France’s prestigious Jean Gabin and Romy Schneider Prizes for most promising actor and actress.
Laurent, 23, is currently on Gallic screens in “Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas,” a low-key sleeper hit that has notched up a surprise 900,000 ticket sales for StudioCanal theatrical subsid Mars Distribution since its release six weeks ago.

Renier, lead in the Dardenne brothers’ Palme d’Or winning “The Child,” and Laurent will appear together in the upcoming police thriller “La Chambre des morts,” adapted from a best selling novel.
