Sarah Jessica Parker will star opposite Dennis Quaid in “Smart People,” the Noam Murro-directed comedy that begins shooting Nov. 6.
Thomas Haden Church co-stars; Ellen Page (“Hard Candy”) and Ashton Holmes (“A History of Violence”) also have been set.
Parker replaces Rachel Weisz in the role of a doctor who falls for a professor whose wife’s death has turned him into a bitter man. Mark Poirier penned the script.
Michael London’s Groundswell is financing the pic, and Bill Block’s QED Intl. handles foreign sales. London is producing with Michael Costigan, Bridget Johnson and Bruna Papandrea.
London last worked with Parker when he produced “The Family Stone.”
Parker, who last starred in “Failure to Launch,” recently wrapped the Mark Brokaw-directed “Spinning Into Butter.”
Parker is repped by CAA, Page by WMA and Holmes by ICM.
