Zellweger to star in horror-thriller
Renee Zellweger will star in “Case 39” for Paramount Pictures.
Pic starts shooting July 31 in Vancouver, with the studio still zeroing in on a director.
Script, by Ray Wright, centers around a social worker who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents. She discovers, however, that the parents are not the real problem.
Horror-thriller project marks only the second time Zellweger has dipped into the genre, following a 1994 turn in “The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
Studio-based Kevin Misher is producing along with Steve Golin.
Zellweger is wrapping up the title role in “Miss Potter” for helmer Chris Noonan and the Weinstein Co. She last starred opposite Russell Crowe in boxing biopic “Cinderella Man.”
