Jeffrey Freedman has joined Paramount Classics as exec VP of business affairs and operations.
Exec joins from Paramount, where he had served as senior veep of biz affairs since 2004. Freedman will manage the day-to-day operations of the division and negotiate all film-related deals. He reports to Par Classics topper John Lesher.
Freedman started his career at Par in 1995as an attorney in the motion picture legal department. He was upped to senior attorney in 1997 and promoted again to director of biz affairs later that same year. He was elevated to veep in 2001 and to senior VP in 2004.
During his tenure at the studio, Freedman has negotiated deals for “Nacho Libre,” “School of Rock,” “Mean Girls,” “Bad News Bears,” “Get Rich or Die Tryin’ ” and “Failure to Launch.” Freedman has also been involved in the acquisition of several films for Par Classics, including “The Virgin Suicides,” “Mad Hot Ballroom” and “Hustle & Flow.”
Before his Par career, Freedman worked as an associate at Sinclair Tenenbaum Olesiuk & Co. and as a corporate associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
