Pair of Latin American sales ops set to launch

Latin Voice, Latinofusion set up shop at AFM

In a bid to fill a gaping need for agents specializing in Latino films, two new Latin American sales companies are launching operations at AFM.

Latin Voice Pictures is based in Los Angeles and headed by Chilean-born Matias Lira, a producer-sales agent with extensive experience in international distribution.

Lira reps Gonzalo Justiniano’s “Lokas,” now in post, and romantic comedy “Pretendiendo,” which he sold to Lionsgate for the U.S. and to Paramount for Latin America. Latter is screening on Friday at the Oceans Screening Room.

Guadalajara, Mexico-based Latinofusion, launched by former sales chief of Brazil’s Cinema Novo Alfredo Calvino, reps Mexican and Latin American productions including those from DIPA, the Guadalajara U.-based production shingle. Latinofusion reps a slew of pics across the region, including Jaime Humberto Hermosillo’s “Dos Auroras” (Two Auroras); Montreal Silver Zenith winner “Que tan lejos” (How Much Further), by newcomer Tania Hermida; the latest from Peru’s Francisco Lombardi, “Mariposa negra” (Black Butterfly); and docus “El telon del azucar” (Sugar Curtain), by Camila Guzman, and “Hasta el ultimo trago…corazon” (Until the Last Drink, Sweetheart) by Beto Gomez.

Company also will be promoting DIPA’s upcoming projects, including Rodrigo Pla drama “Desierto adentro” (Inner Desert), now in post, and Alberto Cortez’s “Corazon del tiempo” (Heart of Time), which starts shooting in January.
