Fest Brief

The New York Film Festival has tapped two Spanish-language pics to play primo slots during its Sept. 29-Oct. 15 run at Lincoln Center.

Guillermo del Toro’s “Pan’s Labyrinth” has been named as the closing-night pic, and Pedro Almodovar’s “Volver” will play as the fest’s centerpiece film.

Both pics preemed in Cannes this year.

Fest also said Monday that Warren Beatty’s 1981 pic “Reds” will fill the annual retrospective slot.
