New Line’s wild about ‘Mild’ spec

Principato-Young banner to set up laffer

New Line has bought comedy spec “Mild Things,” from the scripting team of Michael Colton and John Aboud, and has set up the project with Paul Young and Peter Principato at their Principato-Young banner.

Story centers on a tame married couple considering have a baby. Before they change their lives forever, they decide to have a “baby bender” and spend a few months partying like rock stars.

Colton and Aboud penned “The Comebacks,” which Tapestry is producing for Fox Atomic, and “Over My Dead Body” and “Nick Skyler, Guidance Counselor” for Montecito Pictures. They’re writing a comedy pilot for Fox and are regular panelists on VH1’s “Best Week Ever.”

Young and Principato produced the comedy “Let’s Go to Prison,” which Universal is releasing in November, and are exec producing “Reno 911: Miami,” which Fox is releasing in February. The shingle co-exec produces “Reno 911” on Comedy Central and exec produces Oxygen’s “Campus Ladies.”
