Nader documentary slated for release

IFC, Red Envelope will handle 'Unreasonable's' North American distribution

“An Unreasonable Man,” a documentary about Ralph Nader that has been shortlisted for the docu Oscar, has been picked up by IFC and Netflix’s Red Envelope for North American release.

IFC will release to theaters and on VOD via IFC’s VOD service “IFC in Theaters” and day-and-date label First Take, with a Jan. 31 release date set. Red Envelope will handle homevid rights.

Movie follows the 40-year public life of Nader, from when he was thrust into prominence as a consumer advocate in the 1960s through his controversial presidential run in 2000. “Nader built a legislative record that rivals any contemporary president,” IFC noted in a statement.

Henriette Mantel and Steve Skrovan directed the pic; Kevin O’Donnell is producer.

IFC is on a hot streak, having drawn multiple Independent Spirit Awards noms on Tuesday, including feature for “American Gun.”
