South Korean production/distribution outfit MK Pictures pacted with Japan’s Gonzo Digimation Holdings on Tuesday to produce content for the Asian market.
The pair will work on film, animation, TV dramas and DVD series, and could expand into gaming, talent management and advertising.
Apart from sharing ideas and information, the two will co-produce or invest in each other’s projects.
News comes two months after MK Pictures pacted with Beijing Polybona Film Distribution and Eastern Dragon Film to build and operate multiplexes in China, as well as to enter the Internet protocol TV market.
MK Pictures was formed in 2004 when production houses Myung Films and KangJeGyu Film merged with manufacturing company Buffalo Seshin. In November it launched a distribution arm with the release of the box office hit “When Romance Meets Destiny.”
GDH is the parent of animation house Gonzo and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
