MarVista grabs ‘Sasquatch’

Company makes first big screen pickup

Three-year-old MarVista Entertainment, a TV producer and distributor of family entertainment, is moving into the theatrical arena with the acquisition of international distribution rights (excluding the U.K.) to “The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang.”

Pic, which will screen for the first time to international buyers at next week’s American Film Market, was written and directed by Tim Skousen (assistant director on “Napoleon Dynamite”), and produced by Jeremy Coon (a producer on “Napoleon Dynamite”). Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street is also involved on the producer front. Pic features a cameo appearance by “Napoleon’s” title character Jon Heder.

” ‘The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang’ is our first theatrical acquisition and serves as a major milestone in our growth,” said MarVista prexy Michael Jacobs.

MarVista also recently launched a domestic homevideo label.
